Previously a taxpayer could specify SARS as a beneficiary on their payment lists. However the rules of payment has now been changed, and SARS can no longer be loaded as a beneficiary. To effect any payments to SARS via your internet banking facility, one can now click on the “Listed Beneficiaries/Public Recipient” link on your bank’s webpage. Click on SARS and the relevant tax type and all the relevant payment details will be automatically loaded.

SARS gives employers more time

Aug 31 2008 4:06PM
Johannesburg - Employers and businesses in the country are being granted more time to submit payroll information without suffering from penalties, the SA Revenue Service announced on Sunday.

"The original deadline for submission was August 29, but the new payroll reconciliation process introduced this year has needed substantial change from businesses," said SARS spokesperson Adrian Lackay in a statement.

Some businesses had asked SARS for more time.

"SARS decided to grant employers more time until September 12 2008 to submit EMP501 declarations," said Lackay.

Expires: 9/15/2008
